About our Counselors: Ken
I want to take a moment to express a great respect for you in taking the time to research your options for self-improvement and lifestyle optimization. Old patterns are very difficult to change. Seeking help is not always an easy decision.
My name is Ken Knight, and I am a licensed professional counselor with the state of Louisiana. Before I was a counselor, I served 8 years in the US Army, 2 of which were spent in Iraq. Following the military, I pursued my education and worked as a fitness trainer while spending breaks performing humanitarian work overseas. During one of these breaks, I pursued a kickboxing career in southern Thailand, which has been instrumental to my approach towards functional exercise and nutrition as a fitness trainer.
My clinical experiences as a counselor have varied widely. I have served as a counselor for clients dealing with such issues as post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, severe depression, suicidal intentions and attempts, agoraphobia, eating disorders, readjustment counseling from incarceration or military service, couples and family concerns, as well as clients who lack a mental health diagnosis but simply wish for perspective on how they might develop into their best selves.
Rather than the great differences across diagnoses, what stands out to me after hundreds of clients and thousands of hours of providing therapy, is that there are common threads to be found across the many forms of human suffering. Among the core elements which stick out most to me, the most notable and universal have been a deprivation of the physical body's needs, a mindset that reinforces high-stress thinking patterns and bodily environments, and/or toxicity in the client's social systems. At Paragon Wellness, the aim is to address these concerns and foster a positive change at the root of many potential issues, for the enhancement of a client's inner-self and external lifestyle.
